High Definition World
This is a High Definition Security. For the upcoming IP surveillance era, VinTech introduces Max. 64 CH Hybrid and pure NVR to provide you with full package of IP solutions. By Hybrid, you could connect analog and IP cameras at the same time, while the NVR provides you with pure IP camera connection. Both solutions are constructed in VinTech Linux technology, which provide you the most reliability, stability and secured environment, offering freedom of choice in configuring a system that meets your needs.
In a new DVR generation,
VINTECH provides you with most stable DVR application in today's
market - Linux platform.
* Our DVR Server system is open for further development high scalability
- Virus-proof.
* Specially tailored for the DVR system, high stability - no system
deadlock.
Your list of criteria is considerable and
your evaluation process thoughtfully laid out. You are ready to
begin the selection process and invest the resources necessary to
roll out a high performance DVR system for your organization. With
dozens of systems to choose from, and a myriad of features and functions
to investigate, does the operating system powering the DVR hardware
even need to be a consideration?
Q: The numerous DVRs available today use a
variety of operating systems. What advantages does Linux offer over
some of these others?
A: The key advantage of a Linux operating system
for DVRs is that Linux can be customized, which lets us include only
the services customers need. Because the Linux source code is open,
our engineers can easily go into the code and strip out applications
you would more typically see on desktops, such as email, spreadsheet
programs, web browsers and so on. They can also add and fine-tune
the services needed on the DVR to optimize system performance.
There are several benefits realized as a result of this ability
to customize the operating system, including enhanced reliability,
security and even some cost-savings that can be passed on to the
customer.
Q: The reliability and security of a
digital video surveillance and monitoring system are obviously of
critical importance. How does a Linux operating system help enhance
these characteristics?
A: The ability to customize Linux means that
the operating system is not constantly executing unnecessary application
code. In effect, the reliability of the system goes up because there
are simply fewer things running and therefore less opportunity for
issues to arise.
Customization impacts the security of the DVR as well. By removing
extraneous code, you're also removing potential security vulnerabilities,
since most of the active computer viruses out there today have been
designed to attack server and desktop applications. If those applications
are still part of your operating system, then your DVR is susceptible.
The other advantage Linux gives you is the ability to go into the
code to correct a performance vulnerability if you do fine one.
That's not to say that Linux operating systems are invincible.
DVRs built using a distributed operating system from a Linux provider,
for example, may still run services that aren't being used that
particular DVR and are therefore subject to the same potential issues
surrounding reliability and security. That's why Vintech built our
Linux operating system from scratch to ensure that only the services
we absolutely needed were included in our DVRs.
Q: About cost-savings as a benefit of
a Linux-powered DVR system. How is that achieved?
A: An optimized Linux operating system requires
less storage because, again, it's been designed specifically to
run the DVR. An optimized Linux operating system also requires less
memory, or RAM, to run DVR applications since it doesn't need to
manage the desktop-type eservices that aren't of value in a DVR.
And finally, because Linux can be copied, distributed and even downloaded
from the Internet for free, there are no fees or royalties to add
to your cost.
